Regular meeting of the Trustees of the Beverly Public Library was held at the Library on Saturday
the 29th day of May 1926 at 3:30 P.M.
There were present of the Board
Misses Loring and Marsters, Messrs. Small, Delaney, Rowe and Pond
The records of the meeting of April 24, 1926 were read and approved.
Mr. Small chairman presented the May statement of the Finance Committee
The Committee on Circulation recommended the purchase of 74 title and the receipt of 57 gifts.
Voted:
That the recommendation of the Committee on Circulation be accepted and the thanks of the
Trustees be extended for the gifts.
Voted:
To accept the Librarian' s report to date and place same on file.
Voted:
That the Administration Committee be authorized to spend $295.00 for painting the corridors
and two rooms in the basement of the building.
Voted:
To authorize the Administration Committee to hold an informal conference with the City
Finance Committee, relative to obtaining from the City Government the $700 for repairing the roof
which sum they took from the 1926 budget.
A communication was read from the City Clerk re "Casali Property" having been transferred to the
Trustees of the Library.
Voted:
To accept the custody of the "Casali Property" so called, as ordered by the Board of
Aldermen of April 23rd A.D. 1926.
Voted:
That the Secretary be requested to communicate with his honor the Mayor relative to the
disposition of any moneys which may accrue from the rental of said property.
Voted:
That the Administration Committee be authorized to dispose of the Casali house according
to their best judgement.
Voted:
That the Library close at 8 P.M. during June, July and August excepting on Saturday when
it will close at 9 P.M.
Voted:
That Misses Allen and Prince be allowed to take summer courses at Boston University and
$100 be taken from the Trust Funds to help defray their expenses.
Voted:
That the Salaries of Misses Allen and Prince be paid while taking these courses and they be
granted two weeks vacation with salary.
Voted:
That a vote of thanks be extended to Miss Sohier for her generous gift of an additional $50
for the Duplicate Pay Collection.
Voted:
That the June meeting of the Board of Trustees be omitted and that the July meeting be held
on July 17, 1926.
Voted:
That the Trustees will sell none of the land purchased from Mr. John Casali.
