The regular meeting of the Board was held on June 30, at 7:30 P.M., with Mr. Delaney, Mrs.
Conrad, and Messrs. Casey, Birmingham, and Foster in attendance.
The records of the meeting of May 26 were read and approved, as was the report of the
Finance Committee giving details of the half-year's expenditures and balances.
Mr. Delaney reported, for the Administration Committee, that the boilers at both the Main
Library and the Farms Branch had been inspected and that it was recommended that better ventilation
be provided for the boiler room at the Farms. He also told of the progress being made by the
Commission with reference to repairs at the Farms and said that work would be begun very soon.
He was also authorized to buy a new electric hedge cutter for use at the Main Library, since the old
one was beyond repair.
The Circulation Committee recommended the purchase of 165 books and the acceptance of
8 gifts. This was approved.
The report of the Librarian, giving a summary of activities during June and telling of plans for
summer work was presented and placed on file.
It was voted that sufficient money be used from Trust Funds to pay expenses of members of
the Staff to the Massachusetts Library Association Conference to be held at the New Ocean House
in October.
Voted: to omit the July and August meetings of the Board subject to call by the Chairman.
