1927-01-12City of Beverly, Massachusetts Public Meeting Minutes Board: Library Trustees Subcommittee: Date: 12/01/1927 Place: Beverly Public Library Board members present: Katharine P. Loring, Caleb B. Hood, Rev. Clarence S. Pond, Fred H. Porter, William A. Rowe, and Robert O. Small Board members absent: Thomas F. Delaney, Helen L. Marsters, and Marian P. Motley Others present: Recorder: Marjorie H. Stanton Beverly, December 1, 1927 The Trustees of the Library met at 4 P.M. There were present of the Board Miss Loring, Messrs. Porter, Small, Rowe, Hood, and Pond. The records of the last meeting were read and approved. Mr. Small made a report for the Finance Committee. Mr. Porter made a report for the Administration Committee concerning heating and ventilation. Mr. Small moved that the Board consider only the heating of the Main Building at this time and add the expense for that installation to the 1928 budget. Carried. Mr. Rowe moved that we continue the present heating system in the Main Building and adopt Plan number one - submitted by Richard D. Kimball Co. Boston Mass. Carried. Mr. Porter reported for the Administration Committee plans and figures for heating and ventilation by the R.D. Kimball Co. Boston Moved and accepted. It was moved that report of the Administration Committee be accepted and that plan item $4,650 be added to the Budget for 1928. Moved. That the report of the Finance Committee as to budget request for 1928 be accepted as presented $27,675.72 as the Main budget, $9,750 as a special repair item, seconded and carried. Librarian made her report, accepted and placed on file. Moved that the Librarian's list of newspapers be approved and their subscription be authorized. Carried. The report of the Trustees to City Government prepared by Miss Loring was read. Moved report be accepted and presented as a report of the Board. Carried. Moved that the Circulation Committee with the Librarian as a Committee in charge of plans for the new Children's building be requested to check over the plans now in possession of the Chairman, using all available sources of information, bring the plans to the Trustees with their recommendation for adoption. Carried. Moved that the Board go to the City Government in January to ask for money to build a new Children' s library, the amount to be decided at the next meeting. Seconded and Carried.
