Loring,, James A. Cronin, Marian P. Motley, and Horace W. Woodberry, Jr. Board members absent: Thomas F. Delaney, Caleb B. Hood, Rev. Clarence S. Pond, Fred H. Porter, and Robert O. Small Others present: Recorder: Marjorie H. Stanton Beverly, September 28, 1933 The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees was held at the Library on Thursday, September 28th at 4 P.M. There were present of the Trustees Miss Loring, Mrs. Motley, Messrs. Cronin and Woodberry. The records of the meeting of June 29th were read and approved. In the absence of Mr. Small, the Secretary presented the report of the Finance Committee, giving expenditures and balances up to date. Voted: that this report be accepted. It was voted that the Librarian be authorized to use from the Trust Fund a sum not to exceed $150.00, to hire extra Pages because of increased circulation and to provide for an attendant in the adult reading room during the evening hours. (Until Jan. 1st) The Librarian's report was read and placed on file, and because the report stated that the closing of the stacks during the summer months had been worked out satisfactorily, it was voted to keep the stacks closed to students, indefinitely, and to adults except for special research and then by permission from the desk. The list of magazines for 1934 was discussed in detail, and approved, and it was voted to submit the list, for estimates, to the F. W. Faxon of Boston and the Leon Doble Co. of Beverly, giving the Librarian authority to act ton the bids received. The Committee on Circulation reported that 1171 new books had been accessioned since the June meeting, the majority of them being fiction and juveniles for summer reading.
