Birmingham, Saul J. Cagan, Louisa V. Conrad, Dorothy Cook, and Philip Rowe Board members absent: W. Lincoln Boyden, Jr., Lawrence E. Foster, and Robert O. Small Others present: Recorder: Marjorie H. Stanton Beverly, March 1, 1951 The regular meeting of the Board was held on Thursday, March 1, at 7:30 P.M. with Mr. Delaney, Mrs. Cook, and Messrs. Birmingham, Cagan, and Rowe in attendance. The records of the meting of January 25 were read and approved. The report of the Finance Committee was then presented, but since the budget had not yet been approved no detailed account was possible. Miss Stanton did report, however, that a 13 per cent raise had been allowed for her; a raise of six dollars a week to all other regular employees, including janitors; and a 10 per cent increase to all substitutes and part time employees. Mr. Delaney then reported that he could give the Trustees the maintenance figures as allowed by the Mayor, but that since the Aldermen could cut still further it they desired, these would not be final. Mr. Delaney reported, for the Administration Committee, that a request for the use for the Farms Hall as a Boy Scout meeting place had been withdrawn, making it unnecessary to take any action on the matter, but that he had received a request from Mrs. Edward Lynch that the Brownie Troop be allowed to use the hall for a little play, to be coached by a teacher from Endicott Junior College. It was voted that they be allowed to use the hall for several rehearsals and for two performances, provide adequate oversight was provided by the adults. Voted: to extend the thanks of the Trustees to the Fire Department for allowing the ladder truck to be used in hoisting new ropes to the top of the Library flag pole. The Circulation Committee recommended the purchase of 243 titles and the acceptance of 21 gifts. This was approved. The report of the Librarian, giving details of the month' s activities was read and placed on file. Mr. Delaney announced that the Board would organize at its next meeting, which would be on the 29th of March. Voted to adjourn Adjourned Marjorie H. Stanton, Clerk
