Stanton Beverly, May 31, 1951 The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees was held at 7:30 P.M. on Thursday, May 31, with Mr. Delaney, Mr. Cagan, Mr. Foster, Mr. Rowe and Mr. Small in attendance. The records of April 26 were read and approved, and the report of the Finance Committee, giving details of expenditures was also presented and approved. Mr. Delaney reported that he had conferred with the Mayor, with regard to having much needed painting at the Main Library done by the Maintenance Crew of the City, and had learned that at a probable cost of $132.00 for the paint itself, both the Adult and Children' s Rooms as well as the ironwork outside the building could be taken care of. The Circulation Committee recommended the purchase of 168 titles and the acceptance of 6 gifts. This recommendation was approved. A letter was received from Mrs. Palmer, asking that the Trustees pay the $8.00 charge for fire insurance on her car, but the Trustees felt that they could not take care of this in addition to what they had already paid. In response to the request of Mrs. Day, Librarian at the Farms Branch, that that Library be closed during the noon hour, to enable her to have a longer lunch period, it was voted that it would not be wise to change the hours at this time and it was left for Mrs. Day and Miss Stanton to re arrange the schedule. In response to a telephone inquiry, it was learned that the request for $2500.00, with which to complete renovations at the Farms Branch, has been approved by the Finance Committee and would now go to the Board of Aldermen for action. A note was received from Mrs. Florence Hall, explaining her thanks for being placed on the Library Staff as a full time General Assistant. The meeting the adjourned Marjorie H. Stanton Clerk
