1928-11-07City of Beverly, Massachusetts Public Meeting Minutes Board: Library Trustees Subcommittee: Date: 07/11/1928 Place: Beverly Public Library Board members present: Katharine P. Loring, Thomas F. Delaney, Marian P. Motley, and Fred H. Porter Board members absent: Caleb B. Hood, Helen L. Marsters, Rev. Clarence S. Pond, William A. Rowe, and Robert O. Small Others present: Recorder: Beverly, July 11th 1928 The Trustees met at 4 P.M. Present Miss Loring, Mrs. Motley, Messrs. Delaney and Porter. Report of the Finance Committee read and approved. Voted: to accept the Librarian' s report. Voted: to grant Miss Woodbury leave of absence with full pay until quarantine is lifted by Board of Health. Voted: That Miss Dodge's request that she be allowed two weeks sick leave with pay be refused. Voted: That sick leave should not be granted except by order of a physician. Voted: That the petition ofWm. D. Sohier, Trustee under the will of Elizabeth P. Sohier be placed on the records. Voted: To rescind vote of December 1, 1927 regarding heating plan #1 and to adopt pan #2 as per letter on file. Report of the Administration Committee recommended the purchase of 74 titles and the receipt of 14 gifts also a large number of post-cards for the picture collection. Voted: That the recommendation of the Committee on Circulation be accepted and that the thanks of the Trustees be extended for the gifts. Voted: To adjourn until the regular meeting of the Trustees in September. Adjourned Fred H. Porter Secretary Pro Tem The consideration of provisions in the will of the late Elizabeth P. Sohier, at the termination of Trust described in a letter from Col. William D. Sohier, hereto attached, the Beve~y Public Library will receive a certain portion of her residuary estate. The sale of a house belonging to Miss Sohier was made for $35,000.00 by permission of the Court. Col. Sohier and all other possible beneficiaries of the residuary estate join in a request to the Court to allow this $35,000 to be added to the residuary property. Wherefore be it voted that the Trustees of the Beverly Public Library join William D. Soltier et al. in engaging Mr. Edward H. Abbott jr. to represent them in this case. Essex, ss. COMMONWEALTH OF MASSACHUSETTS Probate Court In the matter of the Petition of William D. Sohier, Trustee under the will ofElisabeth P. Sohier, late of Beverly, in said County of Essex, for instructions. ANSWER OF Beverly Public Library Beverly Hospital Corporation Boston Lying-in Hospital, all Massachusetts corporations. The above named, being corporations interested in the subject matter of the above mentioned petition, submit to this Honorable Court that the fund now in the hands of the Petitioner should be disposed of as follows: - That the sum of $34,604.01 should b e transferred to William Davies S ohier, Jr. as Trustee of the residuary estate of said testatrix (under article 8 of the second codicil) to be held and disposed of by him as a part of the principal of said residuary estate and that the sum of $928.96 should be transferred to said William Davies Sohier, Jr. as trustee as aforesaid, to be held and disposed of by him as part of the income of said residuary estate.
