A regular meeting of the Board of Trustees was called for Thursday evening, February 26,
but since only three members: - Mr. Delaney, Mrs. Conrad, and Mr. Birmingham - were present,
all action taken was subject to ratification at the next meeting of the Board.
The records of the meeting of January 29 were read and approved, as was the short report
of the Finance Committee stating that the budget for the year had not yet been passed, but that
expenditures to date had been normal.
Mr. Delaney reported that he had received a check for $991.93 from Belfast, Maine, this
being the bequest of one thousand dollars, (less $8.07 taxes) which had been left to the Library by
Louis D. Webber, a former Trustee. This to be known as the L. D. Webber Fund, the income to
be spent annually for the purchase of books.
It was voted that Mr. Delaney be authorized to accept this on behalf of the Trustees and
to turn it over to the Trust Fund Commissioners of the City.
Voted: to allow Mrs. McManus an extra week of sick leave with pay because of her
serious illness.
The Committee on Circulation recommended the purchase of 116 new books and the
acceptance of 18 gifts. Voted: that this be approved.
The report of the Librarian was read and placed on file.
Voted: to adjourn
