1998-06-02City of Beverly, Massachusetts Public Meeting Minutes Board: Library Trustees Subcommittee: Committee of the Whole Date: 06/02/1998 Place: Beverly Public Library Board members present: Diane Costa, Edward Brindle,, Katherine Fanning, Margaret Goodwin, Neil Olson, Helga Senko, and John Young Board members absent: Lindsay Diehl, and Kevin O'Reilly, Others present: Thomas Scully, Library Director and Anna Langstaff, Assistant Library Director Recorder: Anna Langstaff Committee of the Whole Board of Trustees - Beverly Public Library June 2, 1998 6:00 P.M. Present: Also Present: Edward Brindle, Diane Costa, Kay Fanning, Margaret Goodwin, Neil Olson, Helga Senko, John Young. Thomas Scully, Anna Langstaff. Diane Costa presided. Trustees met to discuss contracts of Library Director and Assistant Library Director. Trustees will send a cover letter to Mayor Scanlon requesting that contracts be approved by the City Council on Monday, June 15. Dates under employment, salary, term, dismissal, and termination of employment need to be updated. There was a discussion of Director's sick time and vacation benefits. Neil Olson made a motion, seconded by John Young, to: having instructed the Chair on the Board' s intention, that the Board formally agrees to pass the contracts of the Director and the Assistant Director. Motion withdrawn. Neil Olson made a motion to: vote to consider the contract under debate for presentation to the Mayor and City Council within the next 60 days. Motion failed for lack of a second. Margaret Goodwin made a motion, seconded by John Young, to: present the Director' s and Assistant Director' s contracts for renewal with a single change in the Director' s vacation as follows: The Director, upon the anniversary date of his employment each year during the term of this contract, shall be entitled to 20 days vacation time during the years 1-19 and 25 days during the years 20 and beyond. Motion passed. Diane Costa will set up an appointment with Tom L'Italien, Human Resources Manager for the city. There being no further business, the meeting was adjoumed at 7:20 P.M.
