Loring, James A. Cronin, Thomas F. Delaney, Marian P. Motley, Rev. Clarence S. Pond, and Fred H. Porter, Board members absent: Caleb B. Hood, William A. Rowe, and Robert O. Small Others present: Recorder: Marjorie H. Stanton Beverly, September 29, 1932 The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees was held at the Library on Thursday, September 29th, at 4 P.M. There were present of the Board, Miss Loring, Mrs. Motley, Messrs. Cronin, Porter, Delaney and Rowe. The records of the meeting of August 25th, at which there had not been a quorum, were read; and all action taken at that meeting was ratified. It was moved and seconded that Mr. Keenan be allowed the sum of $100.00 for rent of additional library room at Ryal Side, during the remainder of 1932, and that he be granted, if possible, next year, $150.00 for rent - which with $350.00 salary would make a yearly total of 500.00 for housing and care of the Ryal Side Deposit. Voted: that this motion be approved. It was voted that Miss Stanton and Miss Allen be allowed fifty dollars and twenty five dollars respectively, from the Trust Fund, for salary increase allowed in the budget, but later refused by the Mayor. The Committee on Circulation recommended the purchase of 62 books and the receipt of 10 girls. Voted: that this recommendation be accepted. The Committee on Administration reported that new stack lights were being installed on two floors at the Main Library, and that some work must be done to repair leaks in the roof at the Farms Branch - though the complete job of repairing, at a cost of about $2,000 could be left until a later date. Voted: to approve this report. The report of the Librarian, giving details of circulation, story hours, certificate reading, and work with schools was read and placed on file. It was voted to accept the magazine list for 1933, as revised, and since the cost would be under that on which estimates are required, to place the order at once with the F.W. Faxon Co. of Boston.
