Beverly, December 27, 1934
The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees was held on Thursday, December 27th at 4 P.M.
There were present Miss Loring, and Messrs. Porter, Small, Cronin and Woodberry.
The records of the meeting of November 25 were read and approved.
The Committee on Circulation recommended the purchase of 74 new titles and the acceptance
of 30 gifts. Voted: that this recommendation be approved.
Mr. Small then presented the budget for 1935, as prepared by the Finance Committee at its
meeting on December 24th, explaining each item.
Mr. Woodbury moved that an additional hundred dollars be added to Mrs. Keenan's salary
at Ryal Side, because of the extra expense incurred in attending to the library circulation, and
moved that Miss Allen' s increase be raised from fifty to one hundred dollars since she had never been
granted the increase due to her changed position.
These two amendments were passed, and the Board voted to ask the City Government for
a budget of $32,263.00 and one half the Dog Tax.
The Committee on Administration reported that the changes in lighting in the Reading Room
had been found impracticable and had been dropped, at least for the present.
