Stanton Beverly, September 26, 1946 The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees was held on Thursday September 26, at 7:30 P.M., with Mr. Delaney, Mrs. Conrad, and Messrs. Boyden, Rowe and Small in attendance. The records of the meeting of June 27 were read and approved, as was the report of the Finance Committee, giving a summary of expenditures and balances for the three months since the last meeting. The Administration Committee reported that repairs were being made to two radiators which had begun to leak, but that very little other work had had to be done during the summer months. This report was approved. The Circulation Committee recommended the purchase of 578 titles (mainly for school deposits) and the acceptance of 199 gifts, some of these coming from Hon. Henry Cabot Lodge and others from Edward Cabot of Manchester. Voted: that this recommendation be approved. Mr. Delaney reported that two resignations had been received since the June meeting - one from Florence Taylor Hall and the from Florence Lane Luther. After some informal discussions of the mater, it was voted to leave the question of filling these vacancies to Mr. Delaney and Miss Stanton, with full power to cat. The question of repairs to the Farms Branch roof was then brought up for discussion, with reports being made by both Mrs. Conrad and Mr. Boyden who had inspected the roof and gone into the matter very carefully. Both agreed that the leaks were caused by the disintegration of the terra cotta, which allowed water to seep through resulting cracks, and that the terra cotta must be removed and an new roof covering be puit on. Mr. Boyden, in a letter to the Board, suggested the putting on of hip-roof which would do away with all the difficulties of drainage which had proved so troublesome through the years. The Board voted to authorize Mr. Boyden to consult with William H. Cann as to the probable cost of the work, and report to the next meeting of the Board. The Circulation Committee presented the suggested list of magazines for 1947, and it was voted to subscribe to the same magazines as those taken this year, and to give the order to Miss June Pickering who's service has proved entirely satisfactory during the past three years. Voted: to adjourn Marjorie H. Stanton Secretary
