Birmingham, William A. Rowe, and Robert O. Small Board members absent: W. Lincoln Boyden, Jr., Thomas J. Casey, Louisa V. Conrad, Lawrence E. Foster, and B. Frederick Yoffa Others present: Recorder: Marjorie H. Stanton June 27, 1946 The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees was held at the Library on Thursday, June 27, at 7:30 P.M., with Messrs. Delaney, Birmingham, Rowe and Small in attendance. The records of the meeting of May 31 were read and approved, as was the report of the Finance Committee giving a statement of expenditures and balances at the end of the first six months of this year. The Administration Committee reported that leaks in the Art Room at the Main Library, probably caused by the fact that about thirty panes of glass in the skylights were cracked, had been repaired. Mr. Delaney also reported that a letter had been sent to Mr. Bardon, janitor at the Farms Branch, requesting his resignation; and that on June 17, Mr. Bardon had telephoned that he was resigning as of that date. He turned in his keys that time. Mr. Delaney told the Board of his efforts to obtain a temporary janitor, and of the difficulties which he had encountered - a difficulty which had been solved by the hiring of Curtis M. Foster who would fill in for July and August, or for a shorter time if a permanent man could be obtained. The Circulation Committee recommended the purchase of 398 titles - 310 of which were juveniles - and the receipt of 84 gifts. Voted: that this recommendation be approved. Miss Stanton was authorized to buy, from Trust Funds, a few articles of furniture, such as chairs, a fluorescent light, and a small rug, for the Centerville and Ryal Side Deposits. It was voted to continue the hours of opening the Farms Branch without change through the summer months. The Board then adjourned until September or until called for special purpose by the Chairman.
