A meeting of the Board of Trustees was held at the Library on Thursday, January 31, at
7:30 P.M., with Messrs. Delaney, Birmingham, Boyden, and Foster in attendance.
The records of the meeting of December 27 were read and approved, while the records of
the meeting of October 25, at which there had not been a quorum present, were approved without
reading.
The report of the Finance Committee, consisting mainly of a statement that expenditures
had been normal in January, was read and approved.
The Committee on Circulation recommended the purchase of 104 titles and the receipt of
43 gifts. This recommendation was approved.
The report of the Librarian, giving a summary of expenditures and balances for 1945,
together with figures of circulation, registration, volumes in the library, Etc., for that year, was
read and placed on file.
A letter was received from Miss Prince, Children's Librarian, thanking the Trustees for
their kindness in granting her a three months leave of absence, because of illness, and for month
being with pay.
A letter was also received from Mr. Horace Sears, President of the West Beach
Corporation, asking permission for that organization to hold its annual meeting in the hall of the
Farms Branch Library. This permission was granted, and the Secretary was asked to write Mr.
Sears to that effect.
A letter was also received from Mrs. Myrtle Palmer, thanking the Trustees for the
increased allowance granted for the use of her car in carrying books to shut-ins, and asking that
the Trustees again vote to pay the cost of insurance on the car.
Voted: - that this be paid from Trust Funds.
