Loring, Thomas F. Delaney, Mrs. E. Prebble Motley, Sr., William A. Rowe Board members absent: W. Lincoln Boyden, Jr., Thomas J. Casey, Marion Glidden, Moses I. Simon, and Robert O. Small Others present: Recorder: Marjorie H. Stanton Beverly, October 31, 1940 The regular meeting of the Board was held on October 31, with Miss Loring, Mrs. Motley, Mr. Delaney and Mr. Rowe in attendance. The records of the meeting of September 26 were read and approved; as was the statement of the Finance Committee giving expenditures to date. The Committee on Administration gave a report of the work which had been done at the Farms Branch and at the Main Library, and Mr. Delaney, as Chairman, was authorized to take from the Trust Funds sufficient money to finish the work satisfactorily. The Circulation Committee recommended the purchase of 362 new titles and the acceptance of 121 gifts. This was approved. This Committee also presented the Leon Doble estimate for the magazine list for 1941. Voted: to place the order with him at his price of 259.85, and then to add to the list the magazine Yachting which had been requested by several readers. Voted: to place with Nathan H. Foster of Beverly the order for newspapers for 193 1 - this list to be the same as that of 1940. Voted: to request the City Government to transfer the sum of $350.00 from Maintenance Account to Salary Account, to take case of substitutes and part time workers for the balance of the year. Voted: to change the hour of the Trustees meetings from 4 P.M. to 3:45 P.M. Voted: to adjourn Adjourned Marjorie H. Stanton
