The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees was held on Thursday, May 25th, at 4 P.M.,
there being present Miss Loring, Mrs. Motley, and Messrs. Delaney and Casey.
The records of the meeting of April 27th were read and approved, as was the statement of
the Finance Committee giving a summary of expenditures to date and of balances on hand.
The Administration Committee reported that the sum of $1800 was being appropriated by
the City Government for a new roof for the Main Library, and that the necessary specifications
would be drawn up without delay.
The matter of painting the ironwork at the Main Library was left in the hands of the
Administration Committee.
It was voted that Miss Florence Lane of Beverly - a graduate of Simmons College Library
School, and with three years experiences in the Medford Public Library and at Noaheastern, be
appointed to fill the vacancy at the Beverly Farms Branch, caused by the resignation of Miss
Lillian Culbert.
She will begin her duties on July first.
It was voted that Miss Stanton be allowed to use, from Trust Funds, a sum not to exceed
$250.00 to cover expenses at Library Conventions and other Group Meeting, and to pay tuition
for Miss Preston and Miss Mitchell at the summer course in library science to be given at the
University of New Hampshire.
Voted: that the time for this course be taken from Miss Preston' s vacation.
Voted: that the Main Library close at 8 P.M., Saturdays excepted, from June 1 until the
day after Labor Day, and that the hours of opening and closing at the Farms Branch be considered
at the next meeting of the Board.
