The December meeting of the Board was held at the Library on the 29th of the month at 4
P.M.
There were present of the Trustees Miss Loring, Mrs. Motley, Messrs Small, Porter,
Rowe, and Pond.
The records of the meeting of November 17th were read and approved.
Mr. Small then presented for discussion the budget for 1939 as prepared by the Finance
Committee.
After discussion of each estimate, item by item, it was voted to approve this
recommendation as read, and to request from the City Government an appropriation of 33,242,80
- $21, 192.80 for salaries and $12,050.00 for maintenance - together with 1/2 the dog tax, this
being estimated at $550.00.
This Committee was authorized to present this as the budget for 1939 to the Mayor and
Board of Aldermen at the proper time.
The report of the Librarian, giving a general summary of circulation and registration was
read and placed on file.
The annual report, as prepared by Miss Loring, was then read, and it was voted,
unanimously, that this be accepted as the annual report of the Board of Trustees, to be forwarded
as soon as possible to the City Clerk.
