1938-01-27City of Beverly, Massachusetts Public Meeting Minutes Board: Library Trustees Subcommittee: Date: 01/27/1938 Place: Beverly Public Library Board members present: Katharine P. Loring, Saul J. Cagan, James A. Cronin, Thomas F. Delaney, Fred H. Porter, William A. Rowe, and Robert O. Small Board members absent: Mrs. E. Prebble Motley, Sr., and Rev. Clarence S. Pond Others present: Recorder: Marjorie H. Stanton January 27, 1938 The regular meeting of the Board was held on Thursday, January 27th, at 4 P.M., with Miss Loring, Messrs. Cronin, Cagan, Porter, Rowe, Delaney, and Small in attendance. The records of the meeting of December 30th were read and approved. Mr. Small presented the report of the Finance Committee, and stated that that Committee had met with the Mayor, to discuss the budget for the year. This report was approved. The Administration Committee reported that repairs to the plastering at the Main Library had been completed, and that necessary painting would be done later. Also that, to remedy leaks in a satisfactory manner, it would be necessary to lay a new roof, the old one being too worn for further mending. The Committee reported that there was need of better drainage of the grounds at the Farms Branch, and that this might be attended to by the City, as a W.P.A. project. The Secretary was instructed to write to Dr. Murray, Alderman from Ward 6, asking him to bring in an order to do the necessary word. This to be done with the permission of the Trustees but with no expense to the Library. The Circulation Committee recommended the purchase of 257 new titles and the acceptance of 1 gift. Voted: that this recommendation be approved. The report of the Librarian was read and placed on file. Voted: to adjourn Adjourned Marjorie H. Stanton Secretary
