Loring, James A. Cronin, Thomas F. Delaney, Mrs. E. Prebble Motley, Sr., Fred H. Porter, and William A. Rowe, Board members absent: Saul J. Cagan, Rev. Clarence S. Pond, and Robert O. Small Others present: Recorder: Marjorie H. Stanton November 18, 1937 The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees was held at the Library on Thursday November 18th at 4 P.M. There were present Miss Loring, Mrs. Motley, and Messrs. Delaney, Rowe, Porter and Cronin. The Secretary' s report of the meeting of October 28th was read and approved; as was the report of the Finance Committee giving a summary of expenditures and balances to date. Voted: to authorize the Finance Committee to prepare, for consideration at the next regular meeting of the Board, the budget for the coming year. Voted: that Miss Stanton be authorized to send in a requisition to the State Division of Civil Service for the employment ofN. Merton Barden as permanent janitor at the Farms Branch at a salary of $16.00 a week. The report of the Librarian, giving details of Library activities for the month, was read and placed on file. The Committee on Circulation recommended the purchase of 222 new titles, including many juveniles for Book Week, and the acceptance of 60 gifts. This recommendation was approved. Voted: - That the report as prepared by Miss Loring, including Mr. Cronin's letter as to the value of the library service to the schools, be adopted as the annual report of the Board of Trustees and forwarded at the proper time to the Mayor and Board of Aldermen.
