Beverly, January 30, 1936
The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees was held at the Library on Thursday,
January 30th, at 4 p.m.
There were present of the Trustees, Miss Loring, Mrs. Motley, and Messrs. Cagan,
Porter, Delaney, Woodberry and Pond.
The records of the meeting of December 26 were read and approved.
The report of the Finance Committee, summing up expenditures for January, and giving
details of the amounts of income received from the various bequests was also read and approved.
At the request of the Librarian, a sum not to exceed five hundred dollars was placed at her
disposal to be used to cover expenses of members of the Staff taking courses for professional
improvement, and attendance at Library Group Meetings and Conventions.
The report of the Committee on Circulation, recommending the purchase of 67 new titles
and the receipt of 8 gifts was presented and approved.
Upon motion of Mr. Woodberry, it was voted to send to the Mayor the following
communication: - In carrying out the thoughts as outlined in the joint meeting of the Committee
of the Trustees of the Public Library and the Board of Aldermen, the Committee from the Library
trustees are ready to present plans and programs of activities for greater Library facilities, in the
hope that Public funds (W.P.A.) will be available. An early joint meeting of both Committees is
desired, and the Library Committee awaits the pleasure of the Committee from the Board of
Aldermen as to convenient date.
