Beverly, November 24, 1936
The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees was held at the Library on Tuesday, November
24th, at 4 o'clock, with Miss Loring, Messrs. Rowe, Delaney, Cagan, Cronin and Porter in
attendance.
The records of the meeting of October 29th were read and approved, as was the report of the
Finance Committee giving a summary of expenditures to date.
The Committee on Administration reported that after considering the qualification of the
applicants for position of temporary janitor at the Farms Branch, they recommended that Merton N.
Barden be hired at sixteen dollars a week, until such time as Civil Service Examination should be held
and an eligible list established.
Voted: that this report be accepted.
The Committee on Circulation recommended the purchase of 103 new titles and the
acceptance of 9 gifts. Voted: that this recommendation be approved. The report of the Librarian was read and placed on file.
A note from Rev. Fred R. Lewis was then read, inviting the Trustees to a Memorial Service
for the Misses Hunt, to be held at the Unitarian Church on Sunday, November 30th.
Voted: to authorize the Finance Committee to prepare the Library budget for 1937, and
submit it for discussion at the next regular meeting of the Board.
The Annual Report, as prepared by Miss Loring, was then read, and it was moved and
seconded that this be adopted as the Annual Report of the Board of Trustees, to be forwarded to the
City Clerk at the proper time.
