Loring, Saul J. Cagan, James A. Cronin, Thomas F. Delaney, Marian P. Motley, Fred H. Porter, and Clarence S. Pond Board members absent: William A. Rowe and Robert O. Small Others present: Recorder: Marjorie H. Stanton Beverly, May 28, 1936 The regular meeting of the Board was held on Thursday, May 28th, at 4 p.m., with Miss Loring, Mrs. Motley, Messrs. Porter, Cronin, Cagan, Pond and Delaney in attendance. The records of the meeting of April 30th were read and approved. The report of the Finance Committee, giving details of expenditures and balances was presented and approved. The Committee on Administration reported that the specifications for the oil heating plant at the Farms Branch were nearly completed, and that the work would be done during the summer months, that the dead trees in the yard of the Main Library had been removed; and that this Committee, with the Committee on Branches, had approved the establishment of a library room in the new auditorium at the Centerville School. The report of the Librarian was read and placed on file., Voted: to close the library on June 6th, from 2 to 6 p.m., (in order) to allow the Staff to attend the meeting of the Massachusetts Library Association. Voted: that the Library close at 8 p.m., Saturdays excepted, from June 1st until Labor Day. The Committee recommended the purchase of 110 new titles and the receipt of 548 gifts - 530 of these being from the Estate of Miss Belle Hunt. Voted: that this recommendation be approved. Voted: that the July and August meetings of the Board by omitted, unless called for special purpose, by the Chairman. Voted: to adjourn Adjourned Marjorie H. Stanton Secretary
