Stanton Beverly, December 26, 1935 The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees was held at the Library on Thursday, December 26th at 4:30 p.m. There were present of the Trustees, Miss Loring, Messrs. Cronin, Small, Cagan, Woodberry and Delaney. Mr. Delaney presented a report of the meeting held in December when the Administration Committee of the Trustees met with the Committee from the Board of Aldermen, appointed by Mayor Torrey, to discuss ways of increasing library facilities. This Committee, consisting of Mr. Baker, Mr. Parker, and Doctor Murray, discussed at length the possibilities of relieving the over crowded conditions of the reading room; and expressed their readiness to transfer to the library account the sum of $750.00, to cover the cost of equipping the lecture hall as an evening reading room for young men and boys of High School age: - approximately $500 for linoleum treads for stairs and hallway, $100 for change in lighting; and the balance for magazines, newspapers, and an attendant to keep order in the hall. Mr. Delaney reported that this sum had been appropriated, and that work would be commenced at once. Mr. Small presented a statement of expenditures for the year, and then presented for consideration the budget for 1936, as prepared by the Finance Committee, explaining in detail each item, and recommending that the sum of $900.00 be added to the item "Pages and Substitutes" to cover payment for more hours of work on the part of part-time workers on the Staff. This recommendation was approved, and it was voted to adopt for 1936, the budget of $32,5 13.00 and one half the dog tax. The Finance Committee was instructed to present this budget, at the proper time, to the Mayor and Board of Aldermen. The report of the librarian was read and placed on file. The Circulation Committee recommended the purchase of 81 new titles and the receipt of 12 gifts. Voted: that this recommendation be approved. Voted: to adjourn Adjourned Marjorie H. Stanton
