Beverly, November 21, 1935
The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees was held at the Library on Thursday, November
21st, at 4 p.m.
There were present of the Trustees, Miss Loring, Messrs. Pond, Small, Delaney, Cronin,
Woodberry, and Pond, with Mayor James A. Torrey as guest.
The records of the meeting of October 3 1st were read and approved.
Mr. Small presented the statement of the Finance Committee for November.
Voted: that this report be approved.
The report of the Librarian giving details of circulation, registration, and attendance at Story
Hours was read and placed on file.
The annual report as prepared by Miss Loring was read; and it was voted that this be accepted
as the Annual Report of the Trustees, and forwarded to the Mayor and Board of Aldermen at the
proper time.
After informal discussion of the over crowded conditions of the Library and possible ways of
relieving the situation, it was voted that a letter be addressed to Mayor Torrey requesting that a
committee be appointed from the Board of Aldermen to confer with the Maintenance Committee of
the Library for the purpose of securing Public money for increasing library facilities.
Voted: that the Finance Committee be instructed to prepare a budget of expenses for 1936,
to be presented to the Board at its next meeting.
The Committee on Circulation recommended the purchase of 91 new titles. Voted: that this
recommendation be approved.
After a unanimous vote of thanks to Mayor Torrey for his courtesy in attending the meeting,
the Board adjourned.
