Beverly, October 31, 1935
The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees was held at the Library on Thursday, October
31st at 4 p.m.
There were present of the Trustees Messrs. Pond, Delaney, Woodberry, and Cagan.
In the absence of Miss Loring, Mr. Pond was appointed chairman pro tem.
The records of the meeting of September 26th were read and approved.
The report of the Finance Committee, giving a summary of expenditures and balances to date
was read and approved.
The Librarian's report, with details of circulation, registration, story hours and work with
schools was presented.
The Committee on Circulation recommended the purchase of 185 new titles and the
acceptance of 15 books and 30 pamphlets.
Voted: that this recommendation be approved.
The Committee on Circulation presented three estimates for the magazine list for 1936: - one
from the F. W. Faxon Co. of Boston, one from the Leslie Pub. Co, also of Boston, and one from the
Leon C. Doble Co. of Beverly.
The contract was placed with Mr. Doble, at his price of $261.95
The Committee on Circulation submitted for consideration the list of newspapers for 1936.
Voted: that the list be the same as that subscribed to in 1935 with the addition of the Christian
Science Monitor for the Main Library.
Since the date of the next meeting would fall on Thanksgiving Day, it was voted that the
November meeting be held on November 21 st at the usual hour.
Voted: that Miss Loring be requested to prepare the annual report of the Board.
