2001-08-02 BEVERLY HARBOR MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY MINUTES August 2, 2001 Beverly Public Library PRESENT: J. Frates, D. Neuman, M. Troubetaris, A. Burns, and C. RAYMOND GUESTS: T. Cassidy, B. Blair & partners from Salem Whale Watch & Cruise Co. J. Frates opened the meeting and spoke of the Cruise Ship. B. Blair stated that the boat is here, and it is running. He has free cruises for the public. He also stated that there is to be more work done on the floats. He is enthusiastic. C. Raymond asked if he has an alternate spot in case we get a southeaster, B. Blair stated that he could go to Gloucester. He stated that the capacity is 294 passengers and 6 crew, or approximately 300. D. Neuman spoke of a meeting with Mr. Armstrong of the Seaport Advisory Council. He is very positive and enthusiastic. He hopes to get more money in the fall. D. Neuman spoke of The Cummings Walkway. Instead of being 6' wide they have consented to do 10'. Public Access Walkway in back of Stop & Shop. They should maintain. C. Raymond will talk to the Manager. The City now owns Green's Hill. We should start thinking about walkway, A. Burns would like to write a letter to thank the Mayor and the City Engineering Dept. for all their help. Also, to thank the Mayor for purchasing Green's Hill, and to remind him of the walkway. D. Neuman spoke of the Floats inthe Federal Channel. Awhile ago he spoke of a small cruise whip coming. He took measurement of one that was in Salem, and forwarded them to the USACE to see if that size vessel could come to Beverly. They are now working on these measurements. D. Neuman spoke of the Kinzie hearing (Everyone received a letter about this) J. Frates spoke of a letter from Senator Kerry regarding the Fishermen. Respectfully submitted, Eileen Twiss
