9-19-2019 meeting minutes- �n'k . 1, M Board: Board of Health Subcommittee: Date: September 19, 2019 City of Beverly, Massachusetts Public Meeting Minutes Place: Beverly Council on Aging, Arts & Crafts Room Board members present: Frank S. Carbone Jr. MD, William J. Alpine Jr. Esq., and Susan Higgins, PE Board Members Absent: Others present: William Burke, Director of Public Health, Teresa Kirsch, Public Health Nurse Recorder: Kathleen McCullough Chairman Carbone called the meeting to order at 7:30 a.m. The Board of Health's potential new meeting dates and times were discussed. Ms. Higgins has a conflict with morning meetings because of her new position in Boston. An evening meeting was met with approval. A tentative time of six o'clock p.m., Thursday evening was agreed upon by the Board. Mr. Alpine asked Mr. Burke if the updates could be included in packets for members and if there were any questions it could be addressed at the meeting. Mr. Burke agreed to the suggestion. There has been a EEE diagnosis in our area. Mass Mosquito Control has put out more traps. The State is recommending curtailing outdoor activities and using personal protection. The first frost will help kill the mosquitos. The minutes of the June 27, 2019 meeting were approved and accepted as mailed. The regional talks of Body Art Regulations are ongoing, including cosmetic tattooing which have different regulations than body art. Micro - blading is a semi - permanent tattoo which has to be redone every few months. Mr. Burke announced that he would invite Joyce Redford, North Shore Tobacco Control, to the next meeting to discuss adding mint, menthol and wintergreen to the list of banned flavors of tobacco with vaping concerns rising and other communities moving forward. Mr. Burke had a few updates for the Board. September 26 will be the first flu clinic which is for first responders. There has been a few cases of the flu reported to date. October 15 will be the Flu Clinic for the public. The camps, beaches and pools have all been inspected and permitted. Several beaches were required to be posted throughout the season mostly by the Geo mean exceedance late in season. Ms. Higgins motioned to adjourn, Mr. Alpine seconded.
