submitted sketches of two signs. The sign to be displayed over their entrance will be 26”
x 76 ¼” with red letters and a yellow sunburst. The cluster sign will be 11” x 3.9” with
same design. He also states that the “LA” is above “Weight Loss” on the wall sign due to
space constraints on the storefront.
Ms. Bruce suggests using smaller letters to reduce the crowded effect. She suggests
eliminating the outline on the letters to make them appear smaller.
Mr. Reed states that the outline is a shadowing effect used by the artist and will not be
part of the sign.
Mr. Haring arrives at 6:40 p.m.
Ms. Zambernardi asks for any further questions or discussion.
Mr. Haring motions to accept, seconded by Mr. Finch.

5. Parrelli Optical – Jeffrey Bird/40 Enon Street/Sign
Cynthia Hutchins approaches the Board on behalf of Jeffrey Bird. She submits a sketch
of the sign he wishes to display on an existing empty wall panel.
Ms. Zambernardi states the Zoning Ordinance states signs can only be used to identify
business name, not to advertise products and services.
Mr. Finch states that the business already has two signs on the premises and only two
signs are allowed for the location. He also asks how long the box sign has been blank.
He also states that when the sign was in use it was to identify a different business. Mr.
Finch also states that due to the contents of the sign and the business wanting to display
three signs raises a lot of questions.
Ms. Hutchins states she will ask Mr. Bird what he wants to do.
Ms. Zambernardi tables the discussion until Mr. Bird can respond.
6. Auto Body Clinic - Richard Batten/29 River Street/Sign
Mr. Batten of Batten Brothers Sign Advertising approaches the Board on behalf of the
owner of Auto Body Clinic. He presents a sketch of the front entrance of the building
with a sign projecting 1’ from the building. On both sides of the sign are awnings. The
awnings would be red and the sign would have black lettering and red symbols with a
white background. The sign would not be illuminated.
Mr. Finch questions the size of the sign being within ordinance. He also states that the
vibrant red is much. He also suggests eliminating the awnings and just put a red band
around the building to eliminate the boldness.
Ms. Zambernardi states that the Zoning Ordinance allows 40 S.F. She also questions the
projection of the sign and the awning over the garage door of the building. Mr. Batten
states he does not know how far out the awning sign projects.
Mr. Haring states that the picture indicates that the awning is part of the sign. If that were
the case, a variance would be needed. He also suggests lowering the sign or changing the
color to blue.
Ms. Zambernardi suggests to the Board to table discussion until Mr. Batten can consult
with the owners on some of the design alternatives offered tonight. The Board agrees.
