1. Mobile/Dunkin’ Donuts/Fast Freddie’s - Jeff Pechulis/44 Dodge St., Signs
Mr. Pechulis approaches the Board on behalf of Land Development Services, Inc., with
designs of signs to be displayed on the new building being erected. The Dunkin’ Donut
sign will be 6’ x 3’ displaying their traditional colors on display on the side of the
building. The front of the building will display a Dunkin’ Donut sign 1’5” x 2’11” and
neither will be internally illuminated. The other sign on display on the front of the
building will be a “Fast Freddie’s” sign measuring 2’10” x 10’2”. It will be internally
illuminated being red, yellow and blue.
The existing freestanding sign stands 45 SF. Land Development Services, Inc., has
spoken to Mr. Brennan regarding the square footage concerning a “cluster” sign and
provides sketches to the Board. The sign will stand 18’ high and 8’ from the ground
allowing 10’ of display.
Ms. O’Brien and Ms. Hurlburt questions if the SF is within zoning.
Ms. Hurlburt also states that the lot is not a shopping center that would qualify for a
cluster sign. She also states that this is a neighborhood, not a highway and the sign size
exceeds any other in Beverly. She also states that Fast Freddie’s is not a separate
franchise; it is part of Mobil.
The Board continues to discuss zoning and ordinance guidelines regarding a cluster sign
and feels further discussion is needed with Mr. Brennan.
