A Special Meeting Of the Beverly Design Review Board was held
on Wednesday, December 2, 1998 at 6:30 p.m., Fogg Room, Beverly
Public Library, 32 Essex Street.
Ms. Hurlburt calls the meeting of the Special Design Review
Board meeting to order at 6:30 P-m- The Agenda consists of
discussion of proposed amendments to the Sign Ordinance. The
Board resumes discussion specifically regarding Page 92, Sec.
B, 1 (a):
WALL SIGN:
Wall Sign: to read as follows:
"One (1) permanent wall sign shall be permitted for
a ground floor uses primary facade. The maximum
size of the sign shall be determined as follows:
Size of the sign shall be determined as follows:
For buildings where the distance of the closest point of
the building to the nearest public way is 40 feet or less, the
maximum square footage for the allowed sign shall be the lessor;
40 sq.ft. or 2 times the lineal frontage.
For buildings where the distance of the closest point of
the building to the nearest public way is 40 ft. 1 inch to 80
feet or less, the maximum square footage for the allowed sign
shall be the lessor; 60 sq.ft. or 2 times the lineal frontage.
For buildings where the distance of the closest point of
the building to the nearest public way is 80 feet 1 inch and
over the maximum aquare footage for the allowed sign shall be
the lessor; 150 sq.ft. or 2 times the lineal frontage.
The maximum square footage of a sign shall be determined
by multiplying lineal footage times the #2 and using the product
(the resulting number) as a square footage number.

in this ordinance.
For purposes Of applying the sign provisions of this ordinance,
each building or business shall be allowed only one facade to
be its principal building facade as designated by the Zoning
Enforcement Officer in consultation with the Design Review Board.
