Meeting Minutes
Monday August 7, 2000 - Beverly Public Library
Attending:
Marcia Hermann, Helen Lewis, Susan Oleksiw and Jan Plourde
The purpose of this meeting was to review the Beverly Cultural Council's "2000
Application Guidelines" document as a group and make necessary changes. Marcia
Hermann prepared the document and distributed copies for everyone in attendance. After
some discussion and editing of the document, Marcia Hermann agreed to revise it once
more and will bring copies to the next meeting.
The next BCC meeting will be a Public Input meeting, scheduled for Monday, September
11, 2000, 7:00 pm at The Beverly Public Library. The council spent time discussing the
goals of this meeting which lead to the idea / desire / need for a "Cultural Arts Center" in
Beverly. The group discussed different ways artists might utilize a center for the arts and
ideas for housing such a center. The BCC will explore this and other ideas at the Public
Input-Meeting. Publicity for the next meeting will be - Notices to City Hall (Meg
Anderson), notices to schools (Jan Plourde & Marcia Hermann) and press releases to
papers (Helen Lewis).
The Massachusetts Cultural Council has not made applications for this year available to
the public as of this date. As soon as these applications are mailed to BCC they will be
made available at the Beverly Public Library along with BCC Application Guidelines.
The MCC will be providing a new service to local cultural councils by way of a free
web-based e-mall account as an alternative way for the public to contact the BCC.
