Susan called the meeting to order at 2:40 p.m.
SECRETARY’S REPORT:
The minutes from the July 3, 2001 meeting were approved (Bob with motion, Joan with
second) (August meeting was canceled)
DIRECTOR’S REPORT:
Leslee reported on building usage and provided an updated financial statement. Leslee
provided a statistical report through August 7, 2001. A new Activities Coordinator has

been hired and will begin on October 16. There will be a Variety Show and Spaghetti

Dinner to celebrate the center’s 9 anniversary on October 18 from 6-9 p.m. Leslee
reported on some new Fall activities. Leslee announced that on Thursdays the Salem
Evening News will dedicate a column to senior issues.
COMMITTEE REPORTS: No reports
LEGISLATIVE REPORT:
Leslee reported that she is currently working on the project for the Fall and will present
at the October meeting.
OLD BUSINESS:
Tax Abatement: in process, no new information.
Reappointment status of J. Dettorre: in process.
NEW BUSINESS:
Senior Citizen of the Year: The group tabled the discussion of the process of selection
until the October meeting.
Plaques/honoring of deceased: The group discussed the purchase of memorial bricks
and benches. Joan stated she would bring information on bricks to the next meeting.
The issue was tabled until October.
Fee Waiver Request: Leslee presented a request for rental fee waiver from the Beverly
Historical Society. Decision: charge custodial fee and request a donation.
Per diem granted CDL driver: Leslee mentioned that she was in the process of thinking
about hiring a per diem driver to conduct trips, etc.
PUBLIC COMMENTS:
Susan read a thank you note from Derick Willson, Senior Citizen of the Year.
