Cynthia Montalbano, Mary Lou Mital, Tom Scully, Bob Marshall, Joan Fairbank

Others present: Leslee Breen, Executive Director, BCOA, Rick Gadbois, guest

Susan called the meeting to order at 4:45 p.m.
SECRETARY’S REPORT:
The minutes from the December 4, 2001 meeting were approved, dispensed with
reading of the minutes (Bob with motion, Margaret with second)
DIRECTOR’S REPORT:
Leslee reported on building usage and provided an updated financial statement. Leslee
provided a statistical report. Leslee reported that the Council has received a new
wheelchair van and that the band will now be playing every Tuesday but the second
Tuesday of the month. (Bob with motion, Joe with second, approved)
COMMITTEE REPORTS: Scheduling of committee meetings will be discussed at the
January Board meeting.
LEGISLATIVE REPORT:
Leslee reported that MCOA is hoping for level funding for councils on aging but would
th
know more on December 7 when she attends the membership meeting.
OLD BUSINESS:
Committee Assignments: Tabled until January Board meeting.
NEW BUSINESS:
SeniorCare Representation on the BOD: Susan asked Tom about the logistics of this.
Discussion was held about SeniorCare’s role and the conflict of interest of having
representation on the Board because they fund the Council for outreach. Susan felt it
was important to have a relationship with them. Leslee explained that the outreach team
has been conducting routine presentations at SeniorCare to their case management
staff. The purpose is to educate the staff about what the council does. Leslee stated she
would like to see more referrals come from SeniorCare.
PUBLIC COMMENTS: None
ANNOUNCEMENTS:Cynthia announced that there is a meeting at the Salem COA on

December 11 on elder fraud and abuse if anyone is interested in going.
