The meeting was called to order by Susan Albiero-Gadbois at 4:13 p.m.
SECRETARY’S REPORT:
The minutes from the November 7, 2000 meeting were approved with the correction that
the Halloween fundraiser made $847.00 not $600.00 as reported (Cynthia with motion,
Mary Lou with second).
DIRECTOR’S REPORT:
Leslee reported that the building had been used four times for Bingo and four times for the
Recreation Department. Leslee reported that it is likely that the Activities Coordinator
position will not be filled due to possible budget cuts the City will be experiencing. Sheila
and Leslee will share the workload of this position until it can be filled.
Director’s report accepted (Bob with motion, Joe with second).
COMMITTEE REPORTS:

The Friends and the Communications Group met on November 21 Both groups
discussed the status of the parking area across from the Center. It appears that it will be
done and they are hoping to complete the project by the end of the year.
The Rules Subcommittee met November 7, 2000 to discuss changes in the rules. The
group will meet again after the January Board meeting.
OLD BUSINESS:
Tax Abatement-No report.
Landscape Proposal-Leslee reported that the man did not have any other suggestions.
Outside Lighting-Leslee reported that she followed up with Gordon and that the building’s
outside lights have been reprogrammed to stay on longer.
Parking Lot-In process.
Porch-The work to the porch has begun.
NEW BUSINESS:
January’s BOD meeting-Leslee asked that the staff be introduced to the Board at the
beginning of the next meeting to reacquaint everyone. The Board agreed.
Certification-Leslee reported that the Massachusetts Council on Aging (MCOA) has
enacted a Director’s Certification. Although this year is the first pilot year it is anticipated
that the certification will be “highly encouraged” in the future. The BCOA was selected to
participate in this pilot certification. One of the requirements for certification is letters of
reference from the Board. Leslee requested letters from those members that felt

comfortable writing them. She would need them by March 1.
Friends January meeting-Leslee reported that Representative Cahill will be

attending the January 16 (1:00 p.m.) meeting of the Friends to discuss senior issues
and transportation. Everyone is encouraged to attend.
