lease /purchase for seven school busses for the School Department.
Since the contract exceeds thirty -six months in duration, City Council approval is required in
order to sign the contract prior to the delivery date of the vehicles.

I am pleased to inform you that the City of Beverly has been awarded a $12,000 grant from the
Massachusetts Department of Public Health Bureau of Substance Abuse Services (BSAS). The
City of Lynn is the lead on this grant with Beverly serving as a partner in this effort.
With your approval, this multi -year grant will be used by the Beverly Police Department's
Community Impact Unit to provide a post overdose follow up program with first responders.
Massachusetts General Law Chapter 44 Section 53Arequires both city council and mayoral
approval before any grant or gifts to the city can be expended for their prescribed purpose. I
therefore request the city council approve this grant by taking action on this matter at your
upcoming meeting of the City Council on June 14, 2018. Thank you.

I am pleased to inform you that the City of Beverly has been awarded a First Responder
Naloxone grant in the amount of $20,000 from the Massachusetts Department of Public Health:
Bureau of Substance Addiction Services (BSAS). This grant funding will be used to purchase
naloxone and supplies for the Beverly police and fire departments to use on substance abuse and
opioid overdose response emergency calls.
With your approval, this grant funding will be used to secure and administer naloxone by our
first responder personnel and potentially save lives by combatting the current opioid crisis.
Massachusetts General Law Chapter 44 Section 53Arequires both city council and mayoral
approval before any grant or gifts to the city can be expended for their prescribed purpose. I
therefore request the city council approve this grant by taking action on this matter at your
