Old business:
Discussion on the Legion's centennial. The centennial will be in 2019. Ron Genest will set up a
committee at post level. David Perinchief will try to arrange a meeting with Rep. Jerry Parisella and Sen.
Joan Lovely regarding having the U.S.S. Constitution and 10 howitzers come to Beverly for the Legion's
centennial. The Veterans Council will need to be there to voice why they think it should come to Beverly.
David Perinchief will make a call on that in the next week or two. A possible guest speaker for the
centennial would be Admiral Dennis Blair of the U.S. Navy. He is a family friend of David Perinchief's and
has expressed interest but wants to be contacted closer to the date. If for some reason he cannot make
it to the centennial, then we will try to get him for Memorial Day.
New business:
David Perinchief mentioned that Peter Packard, who came as a guest and owns the Tin Shop in Beverly,
was looking for an apprentice. The shop has 60+ years of accumulation and they need help emptying it,
cleaning it and refilling it. It was suggested to have a BBQ in mid - October and will try to get BevCam to
do a local info piece as well as Channel 5 Chronicle. David Perinchief will touch base in 2 weeks via email
and follow up on October 15"
Discussion on the upcoming September 28` raffle. If we can sell one book of tickets, then we have sold
all the prizes. Each book is 150 tickets. There are a lot events coming up in Beverly where tickets can be
sold, Harbor Fest on September 9` and Family Fun Days at the Beverly Airport also on September 9`
Beverly Vietnam Veterans will have a tent at Harbor Fest to raise money for the Vietnam Memorial Fund
and they will set up an additional table to sell raffle tickets. Girl Scouts will make a poster for the raffle.

Discussion on trying to get the U.S.S. Constitution to come to Beverly. David Perinchief suggested a
dinner at the Naval Yard to raise the money. The event needs to be booked 6 months in advance. David
Perinchief will start looking into it. It was decided that the dinner should be in March 2018.
David Perinchief has asked the City of Beverly to let him know if they have any old furniture, desks, or
office items, so if any of the posts need anything along those lines we can get our hands on it.
Cory Paulette asked what the City can do for the Beverly Vietnam Veterans since they were getting
kicked out of GAR Hall. Nothing is secure at the GAR Hall. A new location is needed and Beverly
Vietnam Veterans needs to have access to it. The City of Beverly was supposed to give the GAR Hall back
to the Beverly Vietnam Veterans in September. David Perinchief will look into options for other
locations and suggested having the council to start putting together an EDL list to find out is missing and
what is needed.
Discussion on a private Investigator who is interested in doing research on graves at cemeteries.
Discussion on cemeteries. Jerry Guilebee asked if we could get pennants to mark the different sections
of Central Cemetery since half the graves get missed during flagging. David Perinchief mentioned that an
Eagle Scout project discovered that 60% of the graves were mismarked or missing. Chuck Clark
suggested handing out a map and having them flag by section. Jerry Guilebee brought up the fact that
the flags placed at St. Mary's Cemetery get removed after being up for two weeks. David Perinchief will
contact City Hall to see if it is possible to get pennants and maps. Jerry Guilebee will contact St. Mary's
about the flags being removed.
Discussion on missing and broken memorials. Jerry Guilebee mentioned that there are a number of
missing and broken signs. Some memorials have been moved and the list not updated. David Perinchief
will contact Mike Collins regarding the signs. Jerry Guilebee and David Perinchief will retype an updated
list in an Excel spreadsheet.
Discussion on Veteran's day funding for food provided by the Spear Post. The Spear Post is only
reimbursed $500.00 for the food they provide, the actual cost is $1500.00 David Perinchief will get it
taken care of next year as a budget item. Jerry Guilebee suggested that each post donate some money
so that the Spear Post is not absorbing the entire cost.
