Kevin O'Reilly presided.
Joanne Panunzio made the motion, seconded by Margaret Altman, to accept the minutes of the
regular meeting of December 18, 2014 as read. Motion passed.
Election of Officers
Anthony Kline made the motion, seconded by Marshall Handly, to nominate the current slate of
officers, Kevin O'Reilly as Chair and Joanne Panunzio as Secretary. There were no other
nominations. Motion passed.

Personnel: No report.
Administration: No report.
Finance: No report.
Long Range Planning: No report.
Report of the Library Director
1) FY2016 Budget: FY2016 budget will be level funded. One time or additional requests can be
submitted separately to the Mayor. 2) Building: Waiting for installation of the stone along the
side of the front stairs. Shelving for third floor has been ordered. Leak on top floor has been
fixed by the roofing contractor. 3) Personnel: Two full time employees are out on medical leave.
4) Security: There have been some police walkthroughs but still not on a regular basis. 5)
NOBLE: There will be a new Evergreen release in June. 6) Self- Checkout: Patricia Cirone is still
working on implementing self - checkout. 7) 3D Printer: Library staff is still working on online
reservation module for 3D printer signup for patrons. 3D printer training sessions continue to be
booked out way in advance. The Friends have funded a digitizer for the 3D printer. 8) Homework
Helper Boxes: Boxes are available for children and teens, for in -house use only. 9) Telescope:
The Friends have funded a second telescope. 10) Farms Branch Library: Farms Branch Library
will be celebrating its 100' anniversary next year. Kate Ingalls, Farms Branch librarian, will be
planning several programs and activities for this occasion. 11) Reader's Advisory Program:
Program for staff was very successful. 12) Upcoming programs and events: volunteer
appreciation luncheon Wednesday, April 22: teen poetry contest reception; May book sale;
Massachusetts Library Association meeting; spring story hours; math & science story time;
astronomy club; Monday Mornings.
Communications
1) VOYA article: Allison Babin and Kate Carpine were mentioned in VOYA magazine, a national
magazine for teens and children's librarians. 2) Communication from Kevin Harutunian:
Mayor's office would like all boards and commissions to post their minutes in the same way. The
board of library trustees already follow the Mayor's guidelines.
Unfinished Business
1) Cafe: Patricia Cirone is waiting for information from Mike Collins.
New Business
1) FY2016 Budget: Patricia Cirone reviewed the proposed FY2016 budget which is level funded.
Patricia Cirone increased part-time salary line item. Costs for Laserfiche is included in this
budget, but Patricia Cirone wants to meet with Russ Fisk and Bryant Ayles to discuss moving the
line item into the IT department. After some discussion, Anthony Kline made the motion,
seconded by Marshall Handly, to:
support the FY2016 budget as presented. Motion passed.
2) March 10 and March 24 Letter: Patricia Cirone presented correspondence between herself and
Bruce Doig. After some discussion, Anthony Kline made the motion, seconded by Marshall
Handly, to:
authorize Kevin O'Reilly to meet with the Mayor to discuss the concerns outlined
in the letters of March 10 and March 24, 2015. Motion passed.
The next meeting of the board will be Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at 6:30 PM at the Main Library.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 7:40PM.
