The meeting was called to order at 7:10 PM by Muriel. This meeting had been
scheduled for a quarterly report from BevCam but no representatives appeared.
The minutes of the previous meetings of April 17 and May 15 were approved.
Muriel reported on bringing the up -to -date member list to Martha at City Hall to
update the online listing for the Commission. Muriel also reported on an informal
conversation with Diane Costa in which Diane expressed her hope to return to
active participation, perhaps by autumn.
Alex reported that he had not heard from Marshall Handley on his interest in joining
the Commission.
Muriel and Don then reported on the Tuesday meeting with the mayor and his staff,
consisting of Kevin Harutunian, Chief of Staff, Bryant Ayles, Dir. Finance and Dennis
Greenleaf, IT dept., to discuss the I -Net initiative. Alex also reported on a
conversation with Dennis Greenleaf from the IT department. In summary, the city is
progressing with implementation of an independent fiber -optic network that can
accommodate video carriage for BevCam at Lynch Park and the Farms Library.
Don reported on a possible development for receiving information from cable
subscribers on a city site called CitiStat. CitiStat will be a grant supported data
collection application to enable Beverly to increase customer service efficiency by
collecting statistics on departmental responses to citizen requests. We would be
working with Kevin Harutunian, chief of staff, as this project develops.
Muriel wants to proceed with contacting other CRCs to learn how they handle
subscriber comments and complaints about service.
The next meeting was set for July 17 at 7:00 PM. Based on a suggestion by Alex and
agreed to by members, Muriel will contact Paul Earl to invite BevCam to attend this
next meeting as a make -up for tonight's missed quarterly meeting but retaining and
continuing the regular BevCam quarterly meeting schedule (March, June, September,
December).
The meeting was adjourned at 8:05 PM.
