Public Meeting Minutes

Board members present: Mary Behrle, Georgia Bills, Marshall Handly, Anthony Kline, Kevin
O'Reilly, Joanne Panunzio, and Myron Schirer -Suter
Board members absent: Margaret Altman, Neil Olson
Others present: Patricia Cirone, Anna Langstaff

Kevin O'Reilly presided.
Joanne Panunzio made the motion, seconded by Mary Behrle, to accept the minutes of the
regular meeting of October 23, 2012 as read. Motion passed.
Committee Reports
Personnel: No report.
Administration: No report.
Finance: No report.
Long Range Planning: No report.
Report of the Library Director
1) FY2013 Budget: Current budget is in good shape. 2) Flooding Bill: Flooding bill was paid out
of library budget. 3) Building: Engineering company was at the library doing testing in
preparation for preparing bid documents for repairs. 4) Flooding: Mike Collins is moving
forward on getting better seals for the outside and some inside doors. Mike Collins is installing
drains on Butman, Charnock, and Essex Streets to act as an overflow for drainage problems. 5)
Carpeting and Painting: Patricia Cirone is looking to replace carpeting in Barnet Gallery, Sohier
Room, and on the second floor. Patricia Cirone would like to have the Barnet Gallery painted. 6)
Job Descriptions: Job descriptions are still being reviewed. 7) Incidents at the Library: There has
been an increase in incidents at the library. 8) Evergreen: Evergreen software updates were
installed in November. Next major update will be in January 2013. 9) Upcoming Events:
Nutcracker Tea, Gingerbread House Workshop, Wreath Decorating.

Unfinished Business
1) Materials Selection Policy: Patricia Cirone will bring final version of materials selection
policy to the next meeting. 2) Meeting Room Policy: Discussion of meeting room policy has
been postponed to January meeting. 3) Action Plan: Patricia Cirone reviewed FY2014 action
plan. Myron Schirer -Suter made the motion, seconded by Georgia Bills, to:
accept the FY2014 action plan as presented. Motion passed.
New Business
1) Georgia Bills commented on the lack of spaces in Beverly to host large events and wondered
if the library would consider using the building for such events. Patricia Cirone will investigate
and get back to trustees.
The next meeting of the board will be Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at 6:30 PM at EJ Cabots or
Prides Osteria.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:15 PM.
