Honorable City Council
City Hall
Beverly, MA 01915
Dear Honorable Council:
We seek to make improvements to the Carriage House at Lynch Park which will cost $175,000. These
improvements will consist primarily of windows and doors in the West and South faces of the building
to permit visitors to the Carriage House to enjoy the spectacular ocean views. Improvements in the
lighting within the building will also be made and amodestly -sized area outside the building will be
fenced off to allow building users some private outdoor space.
$50,000 of the required sum has been donated by a private individual and his company. $25,000 is in
hand from recently received mitigation funds. That leaves a balance of $100,000 to be made available
from the existing Reserve for Unforeseen which today contains $218,061.
I ask that you please set a public hearing on this matter at your earliest convenience. We wish to
implement these improvements by the middle of May. Thank you.
Very truly yours,
William F. Scanlon, Jr.
Mayor
