2011-10-11Beverly Golf & Tennis Commission 10 /11 /11 Meeting Minutes Meeting called to order at 7:00 p.m. Commissioners Mr. Lowd Mr. Ascolillo GFMI Mr. Carter Mr. Murphy Mr. McHugh Mr. Page Opening Remarks Mr. Lowd welcomed the Commission members & GFMI. He also indicated that there was no quorum this evening; therefore no motions will be made. Minutes of March The Minutes taken in September will be reviewed at the November meeting. The Pate Report Mr. Page indicated that the Tekmar has been installed and the two boilers should run more efficient this winter saving a significant amount of money in heating costs. He also indicated he is still assessing the air conditioning; replacing or repairing; which ever will be more cost effective. Mr. Page stated that their profits are slightly down. They are still booking Xmas parties and weddings but have had two cancellations due to lack of handicap access. He also indicated that the dumbwaiter is continuing to break down. Mr. Ascolillo indicated that Haley Elevator might be able to service the dumbwaiter; the city has used them in some of their buildings. The Carter Report Mr. Carter indicated that the rounds for September were down 10 %; the result of excessive rain falls. Overall, current members are still paying for next year; and he has obtained 7 new members. He also stated the Mr. Dion is running a lot of member events on weekends. They still accommodate the local school golf leagues; Salem State, St. Johns, Endicott, Swampscott, and Beverly. Mr. Carter also stated there were golf carts stolen and found at Obear Park; the ignitions were damaged. There was a cost of $300 to get them out of impound. Mr. Carter also indicated that there are birds living in the down draft pipe on the peek of the roof, interfering with the boiler efficiency. He stated that a chimney service needs to come in and sweep the pipe and cap it off to prevent future issues. The Murphy Report Mr. Murphy stated that Mr. Gellineau, Mr. Collins & Mr. Dunn are going over the specifics of the new maintenance building; they are currently setting up parameters for the dig and moving forward. The neighbors near hole #15 complained of flooding during the excessive rainfall. Mr. Murphy indicated that there is only 12" pipe in that area. He reviewed the drainage work and it didn't allow for flooding indicating he may need to do more work on it. Mr. Murphy stated he is nearing completion of Holes #16 & #17; hope to have it done by the second week of November. Maintenance Building Scheduling Project is ready to start in two week; waiting for site plans. Roof/color /pitch have been discussed. Mr. Collins and Eric from engineering will oversee the project. They have not heard any controversy from the neighbors. The Tennis Report Mr. Carter indicated that the lines have been pulled up and they are buttoning things up for the season. The McHugh Report Mr. McHugh indicated that things are good on the course. Mr. Lawler will give updates on the course bathrooms at the November meeting. Meeting adjourned at 7:45pm.
