Report of the Library Director
1) Bookmobile: Bookmobile celebration is Saturday, March 19. New bookmobile may not be
finished by March 19, but celebration will go on as planned. Library has received second check
from Danvers Bank. Current bookmobile has been off the road recently because of narrow streets
and large snow banks. 2) Photocopiers: New photocopiers have arrived. They are being used, but
still waiting for them to be networked as printers for use with computers. 3) Security Cameras:
Company that installed security cameras at the new high school submitted a bid for security
cameras for the Main Library. Pat Cirone is working with David Gelineau, the city's purchasing
director, to negotiate the price. 4) Waiver: State granted waiver to the library. 5) Winter Street
Entrance: Winter Street entrance needed to be closed for several days because of danger of
overhanging ice and snow. Pat Cirone has been in contact with Mike Collins to address this
situation. 5) Contracts: John Kelley received a communication from Assistant City Solicitor Bob
Munroe reporting that the Mayor is only doing one year contracts. 6) Budget: Electricity line
item is a little worrisome, but overall bottom line is in good shape. 7) Upcoming Events: Traces,
a traveling museum about POW camps for Germans in this country, early May; Nancy Bonne
event February 17; Bookmobile celebration March 19; Poetry contest April 25. 8) Evergreen
Clauses: Evergreen clause provisions apply to union contracts not contracts for library director
and assistant library director. 9) FY2012 Budget: No word yet on FY2012 budget.

Unfinished Business
1) Long Range Plan: Alyse Gause reported that trustees reviewed the revised survey at the last
long range planning committee meeting of January 25, 2011. At that time, trustees were satisfied
with revised survey but wanted to wait one month for any further feedback before approving.
Alyse Gause reported that no further feedback has been received. Trustees reviewed survey
again. Only changes that need to be made: adding "comments" to questions 18 and 19, and
removing 2 lines from question 20. Joanne Panunzio made the motion, seconded by Neil Olson,
to:
accept the long rang planning survey, with noted exceptions. Motion passed.
Trustees discussed timetable, flyer insert, raffle prize, mailing numbers, and cost.
