Board members present: Mary Behrle, Alyse Gause, John Kelley, Anthony Kline, Neil Olson,
Kevin O'Reilly, and Joanne Panunzio
Board members absent: Kathleen McMahon

Joanne Panunzio presided.
Neil Olson made the motion, seconded by Alyse Gause, to accept the minutes of December 15,
2009 as read. Motion passed.
Public Presentation

Committee Reports
Personnel: John Kelley reported on the status of the director's and assistant director's contracts.
He expressed some concerns about the contracts as proposed by the city solicitor. Trustees then
discussed their concerns and questions regarding the contracts, the budget process, and the
interpretation of the library board's authority according to the Massachusetts General Laws.
Joanne Panunzio will set up a meeting with ad-hoc committee, consisting of sub-committee
chairs and board chair, and the city solicitor.
Administration: No report.
Finance: No report.
Long Range Planning: No report.
Report of the Library Director
1) Budget: Patricia Cirone distributed copies of the FY2010 budget. 2) BevCam: BevCam is still
interested in working with the library to tape and broadcast library programs. 3) Bookmobile:
Patricia Cirone will be meeting with bookmobile manufacturer. 4) Paid Printing: Patricia Cirone
is looking at requiring payment for printing. She will meet with the Mayor and John Dunn to
discuss how the funds will be processed and allocated. 5) MassAnswers: Because of statewide
cuts the library may help staffMassAnswers, an online reference service. 6) Middle School
Students: There have been several problems with unruly middle school students. Patricia Cirone
met with the school liaison officer. 7) Montserrat College: Montserrat College may be looking
for classroom space for next fall. 8) FY2011 Budget: Patricia Cirone has received no word from
the Mayor or John Dunn about figures for FY2011. 9) Board Appointments: Kathleen McMahon
will not seek re-appointment to the board. 10) Beverly Reads: Anna Langstaff reported on
upcoming Beverly Reads events.

Public Library.
