2008-06-26 City of Beverly Planning and Construction Committee Special Meeting June 26, 2008 A Special Meeting of the Planning and Construction Committee was held on Thursday, June 26, 2008 at 7:00 P.M. at the Beverly Public Library, 32 Essex Street, Beverly, MA. Members Present: Chairman Ray Bouchard, Cheryl Sydorko, Bob Griffin, Dan Skolski and Maureen Hobin. Others Present: AI Calcagno, Heerey International, AI Cuevos, Mt. Vernon Group and Cheryl Lamont. The Special Meeting was called to order at 7:05 P.M. by the Chairman, Ray Bouchard. As required by provisions of M.G.L. c. 30 Section 39 M and pursuant to AlA Document B141-1997 Part 1 Standard form of Architect's Services Contract and as outlined in under Article 1,4,2,4. Proprietary Items, below is a listing of Proprietary Items as shown of Exhibits A, B, C, D, E and F which are attached herewith and made a part hereof and are to be incorporated in the Beverly High School Addition and Renovation Project. Fire Hydrant by American Valve and Hydrant Model No. B-62-B, as provided and installed under the Work of Section 02080 - Utility Materials. 2. Manholes and Covers and Frames and Grated all be of hinged type by Lebaron Iron Foundry,as provided and installed under the work of Section 02080 - Utility Materials. Mr. Griffin questioned the use of this product and was told that this came with the recommendation of Mike Collins, the Department of Public Works Director. Chairman Bouchard made a motion to approve Exhibit A as presented. 4 - 1 vote. Motion passes. EXHIBIT B 3. Sarnafil60 mil. Single Ply Roofing, as provided and installed under the Work of Section 07500 - Membrane Roofing System, shall be limited to materials and equipment as manufactured by Sarnafil. Mr. Griffin asked for an opinion of this product and Mr. Cuevos stated that this was an excellent product and that Planning and Construction Special Meeting - June 26, 2008 Page 3. the warranty would be extended by this vendor to include all the roofs. Chairman Bouchard made a motion to approve Exhibit B as presented. All in favor. Motion passes. EXHIBIT C 4. L9000 Mortise Locksets by Schlage, as provided and installed under the Work of Section 08710 - Finish Hardware. 5. 33/99 Series Panic Device by Von Duprin, as provided and installed under the Work of Section 08710 - Finish Hardware. 6. 4000 Series Door Closer by LCN, as provided and installed under the Work of Section 08710 - Finish Hardware. Mr. Cuevos stated that item number 4 was requested by the School Department for standardization between all schools. Chairman Bouchard made a motion to approve Exhibit C as presented. All in favor. Turbo Core Chiller by Airstack Model Number ASP-60T, as provided and installed under the Work of Section 015600 - Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning, shall be limited to materials and equipment as manufactured by AirStack. 8. Induction Unit by Nu Climate Air Quality Systems Models, Model No. Q-1-2, Q-4-2, and Q LD, as provided and installed under the Work of Section 015600 - Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning, shall be limited to materials and equipment as manufactured by Nu Climate Air Quality Systems Models. 9. Buderus Boiler, Model SB735j1200, as provided and installed under the Work of Section 015600 - Heating Ven- tilation and Air Conditioning, shall be limited to materials and equipment as manufactured by Buderus. 10. Power Flame Model C-4-G-25 with AutoFlame Evolution VI for the burner, as provided and installed under the Work of Section 015600 - Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning, shall be limited to materials and equipment as manufactured by Power Flame. Metasys System an Energy Management System (EMS) by Johnson Controls, as provided and installed under the Work of Section 015600 - Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning, shall be limited to materials and equipment as manufactured by Johnson Controls. Chairman Bouchard made a motion to approve Exhibit Eas presented. All in favor. Motion passes. EXHIBIT F 12. Radio Master Box by Sigcom Model No. DTX 16, as provided and installed under the Work of Section 16000 - Electrical, shall be limited to materials and equipment as manufactured by Sigcom. 13. Beta "The Edge" LED area light BLD-ARE site parking and walkway light fixture, as provided and installed under the Work of Section 16000 - Electrical, shall be limited to materials and equipment as manufactured by Beta. Mr. Griffin asked for a Cost Benefit Analysis for this product and Mr. Cuevos said that he will forward this information to him. Planning and Construction Special Meeting - June 26, 2008 Page 6. 14. Light-Structure Green System, the system includes pre- stressed concrete base, galvanized steel pole and cross arm assembly, die-case aluminum housing, ballasts and supporting electrical equipment in aluminum closures, controls and monitoring cabinet and luminaries provided and installed under the Work of Section 16000 - Electrical, shall be limited to materials and equipment as manufactured by Musco Sports Lighting, Muscatine, Iowa. Mr. Griffin questioned if this would be a system that would pay for itself as there have been other projects, in the past, that were not able to pay for itself. Mr. Cuevos stated that this system is energy efficient and comes with a twenty-five year warranty. Mr. Cuevos also stated that this is the only system that comes with controls that monitor the amount of light being played on the fields which has been of great concern to the abutters. His engineers have re- searched this product and there is no other lighting system that has the ability to control these lighting features. Chairman Bouchard made a motion to approve Exhibit F, subsection twelve only, as presented. All in favor. Motion passes. Mrs. Sydorko made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 7:27 P.M. Mrs. Hobin seconded. All in favor. Motion passes.
