Meeting called to order at 6:30PM.
Minutes of previous meeting were unanimously accepted as written.
Director's Report:
Bruce reviewed his Director's Report and discussed the following items -
Playground Survey and upgrades of wood fiber at 13 parks around the City of Beverly costing $3400
over and above the $4500 cost of the wood fiber.
Sponsor Banners - The commission needs to update the signage policy to discuss banners for
companies sponsoring Recreation Department parks and events.
City Budget/Enterprise Fund - Reviewed current status of both budgets.
Lynch Park Advisory Committee - Met with John Dunn to discuss possible renovation and financing
options.
Harry Ball Field - Concrete pad for new set of stands has been installed.
Beverly Youth Collaboration - Planning is continuing for work at McPherson Youth Center. It currently
looks like the state funding will still be available after New Year's.
Vitale Site - Foundation for storage building has been installed. Fields will be available in fall of 2007.
Dog Policy Update - To be discussed at January 2007 meeting.
GAR Hall - Still discussing issues with David Gelineau regarding use of the building and timeframes for
sale or lease of the building.
Year-End Summaries:
Joscelyn distributed a copy of her 2006 Wrap Up and reviewed the many highlights for the year including
evening enrichment classes, advertising, summer camps, staffing, special events, parks, crr program, Tiny
Tots Day, website updates, and a plan for a new ESL class in the spring.
Bruce distributed a copy of his 2006 year-end summary with the Director's Report and reviewed the report
with the commission. Overall, 2006 was another good year and Bruce thanked many senior staff members
for their contributions to the department throughout the year.
Meeting adjourned at 7: 15PM and was followed by the annual Commission dinner.
