Chairperson Bruce calls the meeting to order.
1. 477 Rantoul Street - Jiffy Lube - Jason Parillo - Back Bav Si2n. 425 Riverside Avenue.

John Garrant of Back Bay Sign company describes the Jiffy Lube sign as the members review the photos.
Finch states that they may only allow a wall sign

Newhall states that this is the first sandwich board sign application.
Sally Wallace states that she wants to have a very nice sign and she is willing to hear any suggestions
from the board. She presents the design and describes the colors.

Newhall states that sandwich boards are different from the signs the Board typically reviews because they
are seen only by pedestrians on the sidewalk.
Wallace states that the sign will be brought in every night.
Finch asks if they should discourage contact information or photographs on the sign.
Much discussion ensues regarding permissible content for sandwich board signs.
Finch expresses concern about setting precedent with this approval.
Bruce states that sandwich board signs allow for different design criteria than wall signs.
After much discussion the members agree to recommend City Council approval of this design.
4. 717 Hale Street - Zoe's - Jeff Cala 3 Duncan Street

Brian Chipman of Metro Sign & Awning states that his client would prefer to keep the sign at the original
size and reduce the extensions on the "L" and "P." He says that the entire sign will be internally
illuminated with LED lights.
Bruce: Motion to approve the design with the reduction in the "L" and "P" as discussed, seconded by
Finch. Passes 4-0.
6. 71 Dod2e Street (North Beverly Plaza) - Dunkin Donuts - Dinart Serpa. 59 Beaver Pond

Attorney Mark Glovsky, representing the owner of Dunkin Donuts, states that this shop will be located in
the Shaw's market.
Finch states that he would prefer internally illuminated channel letters rather than the complete sign being
one internally illuminated unit.

Jaquith says that this is not an issue for him.
Bruce agrees with Finch stating that she does not want to see this repeated with other signs.
Glovsky asks the Board to approve this design and at the same time approve channel letters. He states
that he would try to persuade his client to use a sign with channel letters. Alternately, he suggests the
board approve this design with channel letters.
Bruce agrees to approve a channel letter sign if the letters are within the same dimensi

Finch: Motion to approve this design provided they use channel letters in the s

Deborah Coull states that they are now in this location and providing education. She states that the sign
will go above the awning.
Bruce expresses concern about the sign being too high.
Finch states that he doesn't have a problem with cation of the sign as long as it isn't above the
windowsill.

Bruce asks about lighting.
Coull agrees that the sign should be lit, and the members discuss possible lighting options. Coull agrees

Owner Jagdish Rana states that he wishes to list his services (lottery, groceries, money orders, etc.) on the
sign for clarification.
Finch explains that normally they don't allow the services to be listed on the sign.
Bruce suggest listing the services on a sign inside the window.
Much discussion ensues about the design. The members agree to recommend that "Convenience Store"
be on the sign with the "Lucky 7". But recommend that the services be listed on a window sign.

9. Sam Fonzo Drive - Site Plan Review C. Ronald Vitale. 17 Cobbler's Lane. Beverly
Rich Williams of Hayes Engineering introduces Ronald Vitale and states that this property would not
normally be subject to site plan review except that this property was purchased from the City with the
provision that any development have site plan review. He says they are also applying to the Planning
Board for a special permit because it is in the Watershed Protection Overlay District.
Bruce points out a discrepancy between the two drawings where a tree sho
shows on the elevation.
Williams describes the design stating that the Conservation Commission requires t
maples and other wetland plantings within the no-disturb zone.
Newhall asks about the location retaining wall, stating that they two drawi
