MINUTES OF BCOD COMMlSSION MTG OF 10/19/2000
MEMBERS PRESENT: Norm, Eileen, Kevin, Bob, & Elise
GUESTS PRESENT: Art Daignault, Dan Murphy, Jim Bagley, Joe Marcus, Mike Collins
See Agenda:
1. Mike Collins addressed:
· BCOD's complaints about illegal curb cuts throughout city & repeated requests
for improvements.;
* need for Handicap Parking at Cove Playground:
· need for Handicap restroom at Hurd Stadium.
Mike will receive further info from BCOD about legal requirements for curbs & will begin
to correct problem areas, and focus on building ramps in new construction areas correctly
the first time.
2. Joe Marcus & Jim Bagley, owners of proposed BIG PAPAS convenience Store at 25
Cabot St requested review & suggestions from BCOD to improve access. Bob Nelson has
done preliminary review & requests assistance of other members to do full monitoring.
Norm & Kevin will join Bob. Special areas of concern are HP parking & current absence
of entry ramp, as well as need for new HP bathroom.
3. Minutes of Sept mtg. approved.
4. Tonight's Agenda approved.
5. Freddie's Restaurant- must be made by 11/6.
6 No action on HP at BHS & Centerville School
7. Chamber of Commerce needs to elevate HP sign
Housing Authority homes at Hilltop Dr (off Sohier Rd) has no HP signs.
8. Report on plan of Eileen Twiss & Trng for dealing with blind individuals
She is seeking volunteer speaker/trainer from Mass Comm. for the Blind. Trng to be at
Oceanview possibly on M, T or W after Thanksgiving ? @ 10 am, & out by 2:30pm
9. Re: Bev Police Station door weight: Kevin will assess in his wheelchair after tonight's
mtg.
NEW BUSINESS
10. Newly re-opened Dunkin Donuts in No Bev needs to be assessed. Kevin will assess
door weight.
NEXT MEETING: Nov 16th at City Hall
On Agenda will be whether to hold Dec mtg. on 12/14 or cancel for month.
