Chief John A. Cassola
Be it known that the City Council of the City of Beverly, Massachusetts, offers its sincere congratulations to John A.
Cassola on the occasion of his retirement as Police Chief for the City of Beverly.
Whereas:
John A. Cassola began his career with the Beverly Police Department on January 22, 1962.
Whereas:
During the early part of his tenure with the department, John A. Cassola served as a Patrolman,
a Boat Patrolman and a Patrolman Detective.
Whereas:
John A. Cassola was promoted to the rank of Sergeant on May 12, 1975 and earned the rank of
Lieutenant on December 20,1980, was promoted to Captain on September 9, 1985, serving as
Captain of the Detective Unit of the department until 2001.
Whereas:
John A. Cassola was appointed Chief of Police on September 4, 2001 serving the City in this
capacity until his retirement,
Whereas:
Chief John A. Cassola has served the City of Beverly and it's Police Department for over 45 years.
Whereas:
John A. Cassola served six years in the Coast Guard Reserve and has served on the Emergency
Shelter Committee, Community Policing Transition Team, Emergency Medical Service Committee,
Member of Community Mental Health and Retardation Area Board of Cape Ann, Chairman of
Community Education Task Force, Department of Mental Health and Department Representative
to Gloucester Crossing Improvement Association
Whereas: John A. Cassola is a life long resident of Beverly and has shared over 44 years of
marriage to the former Patricia Russo. They are the proud parents of Michael Cassola A Sergeant on
the Beverly Police Department and Kristin Parisella a Nurse at Beverly Hospital. They have four
grandchildren, Christine and John Cassola, and Michael and Gianna Parisella. He also has a brother
Richard A. Cassola, a Sergeant on the Department and a nephew Richard Russo a Patrolman
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That the Mayor and the Beverly City Council of the City of Beverly,
Massachusetts wish to express their sincere congratulations to Chief John A Cassola and that the City Clerk spread a
copy of this Resolution upon the City Records.
