As requested by the city council’s Property and Finance Committee, I hereby request
that the Council declare the plot of land on L.P. Henderson Road at the Beverly Airport
called Lot 1D, presently owned by the City of Beverly and consisting of approximately 4.5
acres, as surplus and able to be made available for lease.
The Beverly Airport Commission has determined that this lot is not suitable for aviation use,
and may be used for non-aviation purposes.
Any lease of the lot would ultimately come before the City Council before its final
approval.

Dear Honorable Council:
I hereby request permission for the expenditure of Fifteen Thousand Four Hundred and
Ten Dollars ($15,410) from Urban Development Action Grant Program (UDAG) funds for
the completion of clean-up on a small additional area of contamination that was
discovered during the operations at the former Gurnard site at the Beverly Municipal
Airport.
These funds are to be expended under the direction of Frank Killilea, Director of
Engineering. They are subject to the terms of the reimbursement agreement of the initial
UDAG allocation of April 2002.
The availability of the funds has been confirmed by Finance Director Thomas Durkin.
The clean-up program and the terms of repayment are contained in a memorandum
from Paul Vitale, Chairman of the Beverly Airport Commission and Bob Mezzetti, Airport
Manager, that was attached to the initial UDAG request for Gurnard clean-up on April
16, 2002.
