PUBLIC MEETING MINUTES
Board: Beverly Beautification Committee
Date: February 11, 2003
Place: Beverly City Hall, Committee Room, 191 Cabot Street
Board Members Present: Rosalie Kerr, Rod Shropshire, Ellen Todd, Alice Lombardi,
Nancy Ormiston, Jo Lennox, Sue Mueller
Members Absent: Elda Turner
Others Present: Planning Director Debra Hurlburt
Hurlburt stated that Nancy Ormiston would provide an update on the Traffic Island
program. Ormiston explains the new signage that will be used for the islands as well as
the Contract Agreement that each company must abide by in order to sponsor a traffic
island. The Committee discussed the sign and the agreement and approved of this as
being a better design and one that should be recommended.
Hurlburt provided an update on the improvements to City Hall. The Committee
discussed the need to get perhaps an interior designer to come and take a look and make a
recommendation to the Committee. The Committee thought that either Salem State or
Endicott College might be a good option. Hurlburt stated that she would also talk to
Historic District Commission Chairman Bill Finch for his ideas for City Hall
improvements from a historic perspective. The members thought that this work on the
interior should be done through donations and volunteers.
The members then discussed the desire to have Phil Klimowicz at the next meeting so
that he can give his expertise and recommendations to the improvements to the
landscaping along City Hall.
The Committee determined that the next meeting would be held on March 18, 2003 in the
Committee Room at City Hall.
The meeting was adjourned at 4:00 p.m.
